Specimen Requirement (s)

Specimen Type: Whole Blood

Container/Tube: Pink top (EDTA) tube

Specimen Volume: 7 mL or 1 mL microtainer

Specimen Minimum Volume: 1 mL

 

Collection Instructions: Specimen must be labeled with PPID (Cerner) label when computer system is up. During downtime, specimen must be hand labeled with patient’s name, DOB, hospital registration number, FULL SIGNATURE of phlebotomist or RN drawing the specimen, FULL SIGNATURE of witness after verifying patient information and tube and date/time specimen was drawn.

Unacceptable Conditions

Hemolyzed. Separator gel tube is not acceptable.
