Important Note

  1. Sample should arrive on wet ice, but are acceptable at ambient temperature for up to 60 minutes.
  2. Samples not on ice and older than 60 minutes from collection, must be canceled and recollected. 
  3. Ship to BJH

Shipping and Handling

If sample is < 3 hours from collection when received in lab, send on the next routine courier pickup.

If the sample is > 3 hours from collection when received in lab, order a Rush Courier pickup.

If sample is > 4 hours old, alert the SO supervisor and place a problem log.

  • Sample will be assessed for stability before shipping or canceling as too old.

If sample is > 5 hours old, cancel testing as too old.

 

Samples sent out should be removed from the wet ice, checked for appropriate labeling and placed in a biohazard bag. Place the bagged sample back in the wet ice or on an ice pack and send to BJH per instructions above.
