Specimen Type: plasma
Container/Tube: gray (fluoride/potassium oxalate) tube
Specimen Volume: 2 mL
Specimen Minimum Volume: 1 mL
Collection Instructions:
- Use tourniquet only to find vein.
- Recommend tourniquet not be used or not on arm for more than 30 seconds before drawing gray top tube.
- Patient should be resting for 30 minutes prior to draw.
- Place on ice immediately and deliver to lab STAT (within 15 minutes).
Lab instructions: Centrifuge immediately upon delivery and run.
Unacceptable Conditions
- non gray top tube
- specimens received > 15 minutes after collection
- specimen received not on ice.
