Specimen Requirement (s)
Specimen Type: Stool
Container/Tube: Clean leakproof container
Specimen Volume: 5 mL
Specimen Minimum Volume: 1 mL
Collection Instructions: Stool must be fresh and liquid or soft.
If patient is an outpatient, have tech check the specimen prior to allowing patient to go home.
Unacceptable Conditions
- Swabs are unacceptable.
- Stool in PVA or formalin are unacceptable.
- Formed stool is unacceptable.
- Formed stool is only accepted for stool transport donor or recipient.
