Interpretive Data
Pleural - Ratio of pleural to serum amylase >1.0 is indicative of pancreatic excretions in the pleural fluid.
Peritoneal - Normally equivalent to serum levels, but elevated levels are indicative of pancreatitis or pancreatic secretions.
Pancreatic Fluid - Fluid amylase <250 U/L is indicative of benign serous cyst.
