Interpretive Data
"The above specimen type is not cleared for use in this method by the FDA. Analytical characteristics have been validated by the performing laboratory. No reference range established – see interpretive comments."
Interpretive Data:
Pleural – A difference between serum and pleural fluid albumin > 1.2 g/dL (serum minus pleural fluid) is indicative of transudate.
Peritoneal – Serum minus peritoneal albumin gradient ≥ 1.1 g/dL is indicative of cirrhosis, hepatic failure, fatty liver, alcoholic hepatitis and portal vein thrombosis. Gradient < 1.1 g/dL is indicative of peritoneal carcinomatosis, Tuberculosis, Pancreatic, connective tissue disease and nephrotic syndrome.
