Specimen Type: body fluid

Container/Tube:  

  • lavender (EDTA) top tube for WB and serous or synovial fluids. 
  • Synovial fluid kits available from the laboratory. Obtain kits prior to fluid collection. If small volume specimen, submit priority request from physician.

Specimen Volume:    2 mL

Specimen Minimum Volume: 1 mL 

 

Collection Instructions: Invert tube several times after draw to mix anticoagulant.  Deliver to laboratory immediately. 

Heparin should be added to fluids if LAVENDER tube is not used.
